Mental Wellbeing

Mental illness refers to a range of conditions that affect:

  • how you feel
  • how you think
  • how you behave

It includes:

  • Depression - where you feel sad all the time.
  • Anxiety - where you worry all the time.
  • Eating disorders - where you don't eat enough to stay healthy or where you eat too much.
  • Addiction - where you have a strong and harmful need to have something like drugs or alcohol.

Mental illness is very common. About 1 in 4 people will suffer with it during their life.  Mental illness can cause difficulties in daily life, such as:

  • at school or college
  • at work
  • in relationships
