Mental illness refers to a range of conditions that affect:
- how you feel
- how you think
- how you behave
- Depression - where you feel sad all the time.
- Anxiety - where you worry all the time.
- Eating disorders - where you don't eat enough to stay healthy or where you eat too much.
- Addiction - where you have a strong and harmful need to have something like drugs or alcohol.
Mental illness is very common. About 1 in 4 people will suffer with it during their life. Mental illness can cause difficulties in daily life, such as:
- at school or college
- at work
- in relationships
